Qeema Piyaz tastes great and it gives very aromatic taste. Bhunna means to fry on high flame so when minced meat is fried with spices on high flame, the result is a very tasty and delightful bhunna qeema. It is a most common mince meat dish cooked in every Pakistani home. It is also a great picnic food and is also ideal for canning food on travel and stays good on room temperature for several hours.

This is soul survival food that is very adaptive and can be added in rolls, sandwiches and samosa. Plus it is super easy and simple to cook and also is effortless. Best tasting bhunna qeema is made with 20% fat mince. However, for healthy option you may take low fat, mutton leg mince.

The trick is to fry and fry mince until you see a golden brown ting in qeema and oil separates. This is like searing and is called bhunna ( bhun-na) in Urdu. Serve it with Nan, Chapti or Roti, Raita, Chutney and some fresh cucumber salad.

Ingredients

  • 500 gram Minced Mutton
  • 250 gram Onion sliced
  • 1 Onion for masalah medium
  • 1 cup Oil
  • 1 tbsp Garlic-ginger paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tbsp Whole Spices
  • 1 tbsp Dry Coriander Powder
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Powder
  • 2 Tomatoes medium
  • ½ cup Yogurt
  • 5-6 Green Chilies chopped
  • ½ cup Green Coriander leaves

Instructions

  • Take a skillet add onion and fry. When golden brown then add garlic-ginger paste. Fry a little and then add minced meat. After roasting add all the spices then add tomatoes and cover the lid 6-7 minutes.
  • Uncover it and then fry. Add yogurt and cook. Add sliced onions after a little more frying cover the lid again.
  • Uncover the lid and when the ghee will start separating then dish it out.
  • Your Qeeam Piyaz is ready garnish it with green chilies and coriander leaves and Serve hot.

Notes

  • You can add any vegetable (e.g potatoes) with sliced onion.
