Sharbat-e-Falsa (or Phalsa)(Urdu: فالسہ) is one of the best to fight the heat and cool oneself in hot summer. It is a sour, tasty drink which refresh you up right from the first sip you drink! It is easy to prepare and takes normal preparation time. It is a coolant and perfect to keep your stomach calm in this scorching heat, and also prevent you from dehydration, best in the heat stroke of June. Its refreshing taste can also refresh you from the all day exhaustion of the fast in Ramadan.
The blackish purple Indian berry or phalsa is back in season and is best to serve in iftaari in Ramazan and we can’t wait to gorge on it. Phalsa is a summer fruit, which is available only from April to June. The fruit allays thirst and burning sensation, and cures heart and blood disorders so it is also good for health. It is also seen growing in other parts of Southeast Asia, including Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Phalsa was introduced to Indonesia and the Philippines in the early half of the 20th century. Today, it is regarded as an exotic fruit in parts of Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
The availability of the food is limited as the harvest season lasts for a short period of time which is just three weeks.
These berries are simlilar to blueberries in appearence but its delecious taste is more like jamun and grapes. The sweetness of the fruit is counterbalanced by the acidic sour flavour, making it really refreshing and tasty.

- 200 Gram Phalsa
- 2 Cup sugar
- 1 Jug Water
- 1 Cup Ice crushed
- 1/2 tsp Salt optional
- Wash the phalsas and remove the stems from it.
